RECYCLED PLASTIC

REPREVE & how they’ve helped us to turn plastic bottles into luxury swimwear!

You may be wondering how plastic bottles get turned into fabrics? How is that possible?!
We work closely with Repreve, a trusted branded recycled performance fiber, used to make sustainable textiles with wicking, odor control, water resistance, and more.
Being a eco friendly brand, we aim to produce swimwear made in the most ethical way possible. That means we require our recycled fabrics to be certifiable & trusted – something which Repreve is well known for. They have technologies in place to test different fabrics, & ensure the highest quality of production. Even better – they let us know how many bottles have been used to make our swimwear! FIVE (5) plastic bottles per swim piece!
We believe the process is truly incredible. Here we have simplified the process for you to follow along with:
1. Waste rescue – bottles are collected from our oceans & landfill
2. Cleaning – Steaming to remove all impurities
3. Melting – Bottles are melted down into Repreve chips, then spun to form a fibre!
4. Weaving – Forming the fibres into fabrics
5. Production – the last step where garments are made into our designs
Considering just 7% of current plastic bottles are made using recycled or biodegradable materials, it is so important that we are choosing these materials ahead of anything else – now is the time to educate & make conscious choices.
Repreve aren’t just finding new life for recycled materials. Compared to making what’s called virgin fiber, making their offsets using new petroleum, emitting fewer greenhouse gases and conserving water and energy in the process. That makes a big difference for our future.
There’s no better time then the present to make a difference, & we’re here to help educate you along the way x
